Dark Days

These are dark days in American History.  Ignorant masses of voters went for a “hope and change” candidate who never clearly defined his intentions.  His actions, as actions always do, are defining his intentions.  BHO said in Europe recently that America is not a Christian or Jewish nation but a nation defined by a set of principles and values.  He neglected to explain what principles or values unite Americans and no one asked.

The Democrat Campaign of ’08 successfully exploited the “politics of fear” tactic to marginalize those who took exception to Obama’s words.  Legitimate criticism or questioning of Candidate Obama was hushed with loud cries of “racism” or simply as hatred from far right extremists.  Some early critics in his own party suggested that he was not black enough because of his mixed race origins.

Principles and values are not exclusive to any race or ethnic group.  One’s concept of  good and evil does not fall out of the sky like an April global warming snowfall in Colorado.  Our beliefs come from what we are taught combined with what we read and think.  Few liberals have any appreciation for the Holy Bible or our U.S. Constitution.  Without these documents, we would have no Christianity and no United States of America.

The principles and values of President Obama are clearly not those of a man who believes in America.  In Europe, he apologized for the evil that he believes the United States has done in the world.  In South America, he flat out said that the leader of the free world was just another country and that we would behave better toward our neighbors to the South.  Remembering his loyalty to Muslims and refusing to acknowledge some of them as terrorists, he ordered the release of the limits to which American agencies can go to obtain information from terrorists.

It must be remembered that Obama is not totally to blame for this current insanity.  He is only the titular head of the nefarious anti-American agenda.  He was selected to lead the movement to destroy our great nation.  Whether one calls this conspiracy or only a confluence of like-minded people, the results are the same.

Those we depend on in Washington to stop all this refuse to do so.  Politicians in the Congress support the Obama agenda either by what they do or fail to do.  Only “We the people…” can stop the destruction of America.  Each of us needs to get involved and get involved now.

Permanent denial of the principles and values of the Holy Bible condemns one’s soul to an eternal Hell.  Permanent denial of the principles and values of our Constitution condemns us to a lifetime of government oppression and permanent servitude.

Feinstein

Our “public servants” in Washington are fond of telling us about “complicated” politics.  Things are so complicated that the elites have to have a scheduling secretary to keep up with who is buying their supper. Ditto for the free lunches the struggling lawmakers eat.  One of the latest complicated situations arose last week.  Here is the Reader’s digest version of what happened.  You tell me how complicated it is.

Senator Feinstein, D-CA, that stalwart defender of the public trust, asked for and got twenty-five BILLION American dollars delivered to the FDIC.  You know the FDIC.  It guarantees that our banks will never run out of money, banks being too big to fail and all.  It seems that her multi-millionaire husband had a vision that he should buy another big chunk of shares in one of his companies.  The purchase amounted to around ten million dollars.  Wouldn’t you know it, three days after Diane got that chunk of change for the FDIC, the agency awarded a contract to hubby’s company to help the FDIC banks dispose of  foreclosed properties.

No competitive bidding for the contract.  No questions about which company might do the best job in working with the FDIC.  Mr. Feinstein’s company stands to make billions on the foreclosed properties as he will buy them for pennies on the dollar.

Last year Diane decided to remove herself from a senate committee that had earmarked other lucrative contracts in the San Francisco area to another company owned by her husband.  She left the committee only after the shenanigans finally saw the light of day.  Who knows how many other such contracts she got for her husband?

The pols expect us to believe that all this is complicated and coincidental.  After all what husband would take time to discuss the family finances with his wife, especially if there was any chance of a conflict of interest between her obligations to “We the people…” and her personal business.

These examples illustrate how the pork spending (earmark anyone?) works in Washington.  The one hundred senators all do what the Feinsteins did.  They scratch each other’s backs in order to send money back home and then expect us to believe that it is all too complicated for us to understand.

A deal is a deal.  Their deals are killing us.  We are approaching the time when only half the population pays any taxes at all.  But what the heck, Georgia just got a ton of money to study blueberries.  Atta boy Saxby!  Movers and shakers keep on keeping on, the banks stay open and we have plenty of information about blueberries.  If America dies along the way, so be it.  It is all just too complicated.  Really?

We All Pay

The “aha moment” came while watching the television ad.  It occurred to me how it is that politicians get by with the things they do.  The animated pitchman was yelling at the camera about the latest and greatest kitchen gadget.  He alluded to the fact that ownership of this particular mechanism would be a life changing experience.

This can’t-do-without-thing would eliminate the tears that come with dicing an onion.  Garlic, a major component of every American’s diet, is peeled with only a few slaps of the hand. Chopping up cheese with this thing creates a craving for pizza.  Children will give up visits to the ice cream shop as fruits and nuts falling victim to the thing would cause the child to want to make his own ice cream toppings.

Another advantage was the ease of cleaning.  This model could be opened up so that those nasty leavings could easily be washed away.  But the real hook was the price which is usually $79.95 but by ordering today the thing could be had for $19.95.  This price was only good for ten minutes because as he said, “We can’t do this all day”.  He didn’t get the word but his ad runs on several different channels and has been around for months.  This ad is one of those that for the price of shipping and handling they will throw in a hundred bucks worth of kitchen knives for free or some such silliness.

Now let’s see, an eighty dollar wonder machine, a hundred dollars worth of knives all for twenty bucks plus “shipping and processing”.  Unless the shipping and processing fees are extremely high, somebody is lying: the numbers don’t add up.  No business can sell anything worth that much for that little.  Politicians are not business men but they sell themselves and their programs in much the same way.

There is little difference between a pitchman and politician.  Both proudly proclaim the value of whatever they are selling.  They present their wares in such a way as to make people believe that there really is something for free.  While you and I know that everything has a price, too many among us do not.  Some people desperately want to believe that in the ups and downs of life, they should have all the ups without any of the downs.  It ain’t gonna happen.

The TV adman makes a profit with his cheap price.  He knows he is lying about the actual price.  The politician knows the price of what he is pitching too. Voters “buy” the lies of the politician while ignoring the reality that in the end their taxes will skyrocket to pay for the difference between the politicians selling price and the actual cost.  The politician makes up the difference between selling price and real cost with borrowed money, the national debt, an ambiguous term that seems harmless enough.

It is true that all Americans are not directly affected by government debt because all among us do not pay federal taxes.  For too many of us April 15 is just another day.  We are all made slaves by government debt.  Our slavery pays for blueberry research and studies on why hogs stink.  Politicians buy votes, taxes increase, the price of everything rises.  Personal freedom is diminished.

There are enough people buying what the adman is selling to keep him in business.  Voters continue to buy the lies of the politician that keep him in office.  It is amusing that a TV adman lies to his audience.  With him, we have a choice.  Caveat emptor!  There is nothing amusing about Congressmen and Senators lying about their product.  We don’t have a choice.  Those among them who can do something about the lies don’t.  Those who are not stopping the lies are busy figuring out new ones.  They all do it.  We all pay.

Words do Matter

Word meanings change.  In 1963 my friend Rose was a tall, soft spoken, Southern beauty.  Today she still is but could be called simply, “hot”.  I like the old description better as she is as gorgeous now as she was then.  The word gay has certainly taken a beating.  If I talk about having a gay time in California, some might think that I was announcing a life style change and considering moving to San Francisco.  Not to worry.

George Orwell knew that word meanings change.  In his novel, 1984, government has gone mad.  Forced labor camps are called joy camps.  History is constantly being re-written. Yesterday’s news disappears in a series of pipes called “memory holes”.  Our liberal politicians today have no memory and expect us to simply forget what they said or did yesterday.  Words mean things and our government is fully involved in “new speak.”

There was a nuclear missile that was called Peacemaker.  Talk about peace!  Detonate one of these babies and there would be peace all right, but only because no one would be left alive.  Pretty interesting since DDT cannot be used to eradicate mosquitoes, yet nuclear annihilation for humans is considered “cool”, another word for okay.

The Go-Pol constantly updates word meanings.  “Investment” for the politician means he is spending money in ways that you and I think is ridiculous.  The new definition is supposed to make us feel good about misuse of tax dollars.

“Tax cuts” have been redefined to hide the fraud of sending a rebate check to people who never paid any tax at all.  Deadbeats, now referred to as “hardworking Americans” are entitled to health and wealth regardless of what they do to take care of themselves.

The latest from our Kenyan President is that there is no longer a Global War on Terror. We have Global Contingency Plans.  The war is over.  The Kenyan National, claiming to represent us, has said he would, in all cases, side with the Muslim.  Islamic Fundamentalists are not threats anymore.  The Prez promised Pakistan five billion U.S. Tax Dollars.  Seventeen Chinese Muslims in Club Gitmo are currently being readied for relocation to America complete with counseling, rehabilitation and job training in their new home.

So, while “cool” and “hot” appropriately describe my friend Rose, the words are not appropriate for politicians who are neither.  That bunch is populated by egomaniacs determined to drop our Constitution and way of life into Orwell’s “memory hole”.  All this amounts to treason, oppression and ultimately the end of a way of life.  Will politicians employ “Thought Police” to correct our wrong headed thinking as envisioned by Orwell?  Bet on it.

Words: Evolving Meanings

The Company We Keep

We are known by the company we keep. Our name is so closely linked to those close to us that we are often identified by them. Barack Hussein Obama is an exception to this truth. Among his friends, he includes outright criminals, American terrorists and robed con men condemning America from the pulpit.

BHO is closely associated with William Ayers, a sixties radical who bombed buildings in New York and Washington. Unrepentent after all these years, Ayers is quoted as saying he should have tossed more bombs. Today he is a faculty member at a major university. Ayers wife, Bernadine Dohrn, was with William in the “good ol’ days” of home grown terrorism and lit some of the fuses.

Elected notables supporting BHO are ninety three day Vietnam Vet, John Kerry and Edward, the-car-wouldn’t-float, Kennedy. Tony Rezko, noted Chicago slum lord who fleeced taxpayers for millions, is one of BHO’s intimates. Tony saw to it that BHO and Michelle got their million dollar house in Chicago. The house by the way, is not in one of the neighborhoods where BHO became famous as a community organizer. Tony is one of the beneficiaries of BHO’s organizing efforts. If you don’t know who Jeremiah G-D America, Wright is, please stay away from the polls on election day.

Franklin Raines and James Johnson used to head Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. For cooking the books and lying to investigators to cover up the fraud, they were handsomely rewarded. Raines went out in 2004 averaging fifteen million a year for six years. Johnson was paid 21 million in 1998, his last year with Freddie. These two coat-and-tie-criminals are campaign advisors to BHO. What change is BHO contemplating for these two thieves?

While Joe Biden may not be the village idiot, some of his statements make him a good candidate. Recently he said that there is no way coal is part of our energy solution.  BHO is on record as favoring more use of the abundant resource. Joe even said that Hillary would have been a better choice for the number two job in Washington. Huh?

As far as campaign money is concerned, BHO is number three behind Senators Dodd and Clinton in contributions from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. This is a considerable achievement considering Dodd and Clinton have been years in collecting theirs. BHO moved into the number three spot after only two years on the job.

BHO would make a great huckster in a carnival sideshow, but President of the United States? Nah? The political gods who chose BHO, including their apostles in the mainstream media, refuse to make any connection between BHO’s friends and his character.  Now, how do you feel knowing that you are smarter than politicians and the talking heads on television?

The Liberal Bank

Using the logic of the politician and government arithmetic, a new bank is proposed for introduction in 2009.  The new bank will meet the needs of many people.  Sharing of resources is the basic operating principle.  Equal treatment of all depositors is guaranteed by the bank charter.

Compassionate bank officers, driven by the belief that all depositors should receive equal treatment, have something for everyone.  The redistribution of deposits is the most anticipated benefit of the new bank.  On the last day of each month, the deposits from all customers will be equally divided among all active accounts.  An account is considered active if it has a balance of at least one dollar.  Inability to maintain a larger balance will not be a factor in the redistribution process.  New accounts must be opened not later than the thirteenth in order to qualify for the redistribution.

In order to attract customers, officials plan to take the bank to the people.  Sign-ups will be done at malls, churches, even street corners.  Civic organizations will be offered incentives to find new customers.  Volunteers will be organized in special “customer drives” to get the word out about the new banking venture.

User friendly loan policies will be the standard of the new bank.  Because of the sensitive nature of individual financial information, ability to repay will not be a major factor in loan decisions.  The bank anticipates no default loans because no redistribution of deposits will occur until all loans are brought current.  One official admitted that there is the possibility that default loans will have negative impact on individual account balances but because the bank cares so much for people, it is only right that larger depositors help those who are less fortunate.

Bank officials will announce the sale of stock in the new bank and that there will be a number of shares made available at no charge to those who cannot afford the twenty dollar per share initial offering.  Community activists pointed out that it was about time the little guy had a chance to own a piece of a bank.

Those who can, are encouraged to make frequent, large deposits in their accounts but would also be subject to more stringent loan requirements.  The name of the bank will be Everyman’s Bank.  The Working Man’s Bank was considered but because the title implies that only men work and does not define what men are, the name was quickly rejected.  Contact the new bank at 1-800-WEQ-UAL$ for more information.

Labels

Voters and politicians are often labeled as being conservative or liberal.  These terms are not necessarily derogatory or demeaning.  Labels are however, important.  Each of us, depending on circumstance, is both conservative and liberal.  Facts and reason, not emotion, should guide the political process.   Today, we are seeing too much emotion in politics and not enough reason.

The voter who would agree to raise property taxes would never loan his credit card to someone planning a trip to a casino.  No voter would approve “the government” providing everyone a new automobile every year, but all voters believe that a common system of roads and bridges is a necessity.

In the hurry-hurry world of today, conservatism is fading from the political scene.  Too many among us have no real understanding of the purpose of government.  Liberals are finding a gullible audience for the notion that every American is entitled to success.  In electoral politics, it is more likely to find a Bantam rooster growing teeth than a politician  supporting the truth.  Emotion based politics is everywhere.

Tax rebates this year are being given to people who never earned a paycheck. Infants are collecting rebates.  The money for this insanity is being borrowed by the government.  It is not possible to pay a rebate with borrowed money.  Politicians are doing with taxpayer money that which they would never do with their personal finances.

Emotion driven liberals support murder in the womb but are quick to rally against the death penalty.  Conservatives understand the moral component of the death penalty and find no such equivalency in abortion.  Freedom of speech is feared by liberals and embraced by conservatives.  There is no basis in law to guarantee that what is said will not be offensive.

What liberals cannot do by legislation, they get done through the courts.  A California court recently approved marriage between two people of the same gender even though voters had soundly rejected the idea.  Those who are empowered to represent the people, the politicians, are failing to do their duty.  The politician who stands for law and morality is a pariah among his peers.  In the Congress, he will be denied the pork barrel spending projects that do so much to keep him in office.

America cannot survive rule by emotion.  Acceptance and acknowledgement of truth must guide every action taken by politicians and judges.  Governance under the notion that because we can, we will, is not governance but oppression.  America is a beacon of hope for all mankind.  America is not the land of milk and honey with a guarantee that everyone will have all the milk and honey he wants.  Government (politicians) cannot guarantee everything to everyone.  Someone has to pay for the free lunch.  Capitalism and personal responsibility are not just words.  They are the realities that provide real hope for those willing to accept the opportunity and the challenge they offer.

Liberalism does rejects these concepts and is destroying the American Dream.  America is not the anti-Christ.  America is not an evil nation.  America has solved more problems than it ever created.  Conservatives become liberals when they fail in their duty to support the rule of law.  Liberalism requires no courage, no strength of character, no belief in anything other than the feel good notion of the moment.

If we are to survive, politicians of good will, if such exist, must return to rational, unemotional discussion, agreement and action on those things which make America exceptional.  The three presidential candidates offer no hope for this.  None of them speak of anything other than more and larger government control of our lives.  None of them speak of any possibility of success unless they are empowered to take care of us.  We have no need for politicians.  We have a need for men and women who accept the reality that God, not man, is supreme.  Reason, not emotion, should guide what becomes law.
